2007 SWB T5 2.5Tdi (130bhp) 6 speed in Indian Blue. 213k on the clock, 12 months MOT until May 2018. Reluctant sale as I needed something Sprinter sized which I now have.
I’m the 3rd proper owner of this van, was previously used by a corner shop for cash and carry runs so it’s had a pretty easy life. They had all the work done at VW dealers, no expense spared. 2nd owner picked it up, fitted the towbar and a week later found a LWB T5 he really wanted so he sold this on straight away.
I’ve owned this for 5 years and it’s a superb van – never let me down once. I converted it into a stealth camper to allow for camping anywhere, but windows could be added easily if required. Done around 40k in the last 5 years, all over the UK Europe – most of France, Germany (indicated 120mph on the autobahn!), Italy, into the alps (-6) and beyond – it’s been great all the way.
Interior is a practical and usable conversion done to a high standard. Features very comfy rock n roll bed with memory foam mattress, cab curtains, plenty of storage space in the units and under the bed, leisure battery which powers LED lights, a couple of charging points and a basic stereo – also has a sink with hand pump with a fresh and grey water tank under the sink. I sound deadened and insulated it extensively before the conversion so the temperature is never too extreme either way and it’s pretty quiet when driving.
Engine is spot on, very quick, had a full service last year and it drives brilliantly through all the gears – doesn’t feel at all like a van with 200k+ on. I usually get 30-35mpg on a long run, not hanging around.
The engine light is on (glow plug fault) but this doesn’t have any effect on the starting or driving, or anything at all really – just a minor visual annoyance. I have a full set of Bosch glow plugs that will come with the van – just one of those jobs I’ve not done, or needed to. Smokes a little sometimes when driven hard too but nothing you wouldn’t expect of a 10 year old diesel. Handles really well on the coilies too, a comfortable ride.
The drivers side door doesn’t always unlock with the keyfob, I just use the key in the lock which works fine to open everything. Or the fob will open the rest of the van just fine.
Bodywork is good overall, it’s a really tidy looking T5 but bear in mind it is 10 years old so there are the usual marks and stonechips etc you’d expect of a van this age. Polishes up real nice though!!
Comes with plenty of history and 2 sets of keys, a great van ready for camping season.
