This is Sunderland was a longterm ongoing photography project which aimed to document the ever-changing industrial and historic landscape of Wearside. All photos (almost) were taken on film, usually at night, using vintage camera equipment in keeping with the locations and subjects. And document it, it did in the days before people with cameras were ten a penny at any given spot along the coast capturing the same old shots for the social media likes.

Alas, all things must pass. Unwavering pride shifted from the town and its people, instead towards the unwavering pride of a body of photographic work of real significance, of real quality, to be discovered and appreciated in future days.

Below is merely a taster of the project, visit This is Sunderland to see the images pigeonholed in their respective zones, like a mackem Crystal Maze.
